Deadpool Villains

Since his first appearance in Marvel’s New Mutants #98 (1990), Deadpool has managed to cross paths with some very powerful enemies. To celebrate the release of our Marvel’s Deadpool inspired tee shipping this month, we compiled a list of some of the most notable Deadpool villains.

Ajax

Ajax Confronting Doctor Killebrew

Francis – A long time government operative – underwent cybernetic enhancement by Doctor Killebrew in Canada’s Weapon X program, where he became Doctor Killebrew’s assistant. Here he assisted in carrying out Doctor Killebrew’s sadistic experimentation on the Weapon X patients. During this time one of the patients Francis took great pleasure in torturing was Wade Wilson who would later become known as Deadpool. Wilson eventually built up enough courage to undermine Francis’ authority by insulting him in front of the other patients, which backfired when his insults were met with harsher punishments for him and the other patients. As a result of Wilson’s defiance – one of the other patients and friends of Wilson – Worm, became tortured to the point where Wilson had to put him out of his misery.

In killing a fellow Patient, Wilson was sentenced to death, however due to his regenerative abilities, Wilson came back from a near death experience and left Francis for dead. It became known years later that Francis survived Wilson’s attack, assuming the name Ajax, and began hunting down the escaped patients including Deadpool.

Taskmaster

Deadpool fighting Taskmaster

Being born with the gift of photographic reflexes, Taskmaster is able to analyze a subject and replicate their actions. He discovered this ability at an early age while watching a cowboy show and being able to replicate the rope tricks the actors performed. Later, he used this ability to become the star quarterback of his high school football team after watching a professional football player on tv. He contemplated using using his talent for law enforcement but found being a criminal would be more lucrative.

Taskmaster later used his skills to train henchman for various super-villains and became very successful at it. His photographic reflexes allowed him to be very formidable in combat and has held his own against both Captain America and Iron man at the same time. He later became a member of S.H.I.E.L.D. where he trained shield operatives in an attempt to clean up his record.

Taskmaster has faced off against Deadpool many times in the comics with one of the most notable times being in Marvel’s Cable and Deadpool issue 36, where the two engage in a violent sword fight.

Evil Deadpool

Evil Deadpool is a Deadpool Villain

The origins of “Evil Deadpool” begin with Ella Whitby – a British Psychologist who was obsessed with Deadpool. Over the span of a few years, Ella Whitby collected many of Deadpool’s severed body parts and stored them in a freezer unit. Deadpool eventually found his body parts and threw them in a dumpster in disgust. Unknowingly to Deadpool, the discarded body parts began to thaw and eventually fused into a single person as a result of Deadpool’s healing capabilities.

The two officially crossed paths in New York When Evil Deadpool blew up Deadpool’s favorite chimichanga place. The two fought until they ran out of bullets allowing Evil Deadpool to escape. He then sought out to commit heinous crimes to change Deadpool’s public Image. Having the same regenerative capabilities of Deadpool himself, Evil Deadpool has proven to be a formidable foe time after time.

Carnage

Carnage Deadpool Villain

Kletus Kasady was an extremely violent and twisted serial killer serving eleven consecutive sentences in on Ryker’s Island for a slew of murders when the opportunity for escape presented itself in the form of his cellmate, Eddie Brock. Brock – the host for the Venom Symbiote – predicted that the symbiote would return to him allowing him to escape prison. As Brock predicted, the Symbiote returned to him and allowed him to break out of prison. During the commotion, the Venom Symbiote gave birth to the Carnage Symbiote which latched onto Cletus Kasady.

In Marvel’s Deadpool vs. Carnage, Carnage returns to seemingly random killing spree and Deadpool manages to thwart his plans by finding patterns in Carnage’s madness.
