Since he first appeared on the Marvel scene back in 1972, Carl Lucas made the ultimate change from a troubled adolescent to a symbol of justice after being betrayed by his childhood friend. After gaining superhuman powers through a “Super Soldier” experiment while in Seagate Prison, Lucas managed to escape and took on the name Luke Cage. Having returned to New York City, Cage decided to use his powers for good while making some money as a “Hero for Hire”. Here is an exclusive insight behind the creation of the July Marvel’s Luke Cage inspired tee!
Behind the Tee | Luke Cage
We started this months tee off with a comfortable high quality tri-blend. Our tri-blend, as the name suggests, is made up of three fabrics: polyester, cotton and rayon. The benefits of using a tri-blend are that the shirt feels softer, has a slight elastic feel to it, and prevents shrinkage! This month’s tee is super-light, relaxed and will keep you cool through the warmer Summer months!
Luke Cage
The Design
When designing this month’s tee we wanted to use old school, comic book style Luke Cage artwork. For the print we used a traditional screen print which gives a slight elevation off the shirt. On the front we have a retro, angered Luke Cage breaking through a brick wall into the foreground of the tee. On the back we added Luke Cage’s signature “Hero for Hire” spelled out in big bold letters using the traditional “Power Man” color pallet.
