Luke Cage Group Affiliations
Since the Hero for Hire – Luke Cage first appeared in Harlem in 1972 he has been offering help to all those who were able to afford it. His mercenary styled work often resulted in him crossing paths with some other notable heroes – many of which he would often team up with again in later issues. Here are some of the most notable Luke Cage group affiliations.
Heroes for Hire
The Heroes for Hire group consisted of Luke Cage and Daniel Rand, aka Iron Fist. The two first met at a party that was thrown for Cage in celebration of being exhonerated on all accusations. The two then had to team up to take down Stiletto and Discus. Soon after, the two had worked together yet again to help Misty Knight.
Heroes for Hire
Afterwards, Cage and Iron Fist decided to for the “Heroes for Hire”, where they would frequently offer professional investigation and protection to those whom needed it.
The Defenders
The Defenders – consisting of Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Daredevil and Jessica Jones – came into being when Cage, Iron Fist and Daredevil each became increasingly involved in fighting Diamondback’s growing operations. Investigator and wife to Luke Cage, joined the group when they needed her assistance in locating Diamondback.

The Group had teamed up a number of times later on to thwart the likes of Diamondback, Hydra, The Hood and Fixer – just to name a few.
The Fantastic Four
For a short while Luke Cage became a fill-in member of the Fantastic Four when Ben Grimm was transformed back into his human self. Having powers similar to Grimm, Luke Cage proved to be a suitable temporary fill in and formed a lasting bond. After a short while Reed Richards developed an exoskeleton which gave him back some of his strength.

While Battling Galactus Grimm was turned back to his rocky self and Luke Cage and the Fantastic Four parted ways.
Whether he was a standalone hero or fighting alongside others, Luke Cage always managed to bring villains to justice.
